'Cane Hut,
Hops Every
Friday

By WENDY ALDERMAN

MOUNT DORA - The Hurricane Hut is a swinging place on a Friday night. Every Friday night there is a dance with a real live band. They're really a rock 'n' rollin' bunch.
Gee, when I went to school - ah, but that's another story.
Some of the kids from the youth center asked me to come up and see the dance and get information about the really big dance on July 16. That night there will be two two bands, the Starfires and The Shadows and the affair is billed the Battle of The Bands. So I went up to the Hut which is next to the municipal pool and I tried to take a couple of pictures with the press camera but it was sort of dark and the lighting was sort of weird and this camera and I have a personality conflict anyway.
The kids were having a ball! I couldn't begin to identify their dances, but they were a laughing, happy group having a wonderful time.
Let me tell you - The Starfires are good! They really are. I was impressed. The group comes from Auburndale. I can just imagine what Friday night will be like with two bands.
The kids hope to have a good turn out for the dance which costs 25 cents or a season pass card. That is the way they earn the money to keep the youth center open.
Just about the time I was wishing I was sixteen for a few hours someone said "Yes, maam" to me and I decided I'd better take the ole camera home and wash the supper dishes.
