In late 1969 or early 1970, Allen Keefer
decided to retire as drummer for the Starfires. When
I returned from a stint with We The People, we reunited
the remaining members of "Ron & The Starfires" along
with drummer, Larry Hunt (from the Nation Rocking Shadows),
and formed the group, Cinnamon.
Cinnamon played most of 1970, doing
proms, youth centers, and teen clubs, especially in south
central Florida and the Florida east coast. The players were
Ron Whitney (vocals), Carl Chambers (guitar), Jesse Chambers
(bass), Muggins Willard (organ and piano), and Larry Hunt
(drums). Late in 1970, Ron Whitney left the group and we
teamed up for a couple of months with Kayle Payne from Lakeland
who played piano, harmonica, conga, and was a blues vocalist
(not neccesarily at the same time).
We used a promo photo of the last incarnation
of the Starfires and as far as I know there were no photos
of the actual personnel. Bee Jay had misprinted our business
cards with a "The" before the name but we weren't
together long enough for it to really matter. Audio, on the
other hand, is in abundance. We have several recordings ranging
from studio audition recordings to some very good live recordings.

FOREST
HILL HIGH SCHOOL APRIL 1970
PROM
TO SWING
Can you imagine dancing to the
sounds of "The Cinnamon," a six-man "mod" group playing
the Top Forty tunes at the Prom May 15?
Yes, this year the Prom is not
going to be the traditional formal dance we've always
had. This year, the Junior-Senior Prom, still formal,
is going to rock with the penetrating music of bass,
drums, guitar, Hammond organ, plus vocals by a lead
singer.
The locale will be the same-Flagler
Museum in Palm Beach; the time has not changed --from
9:00 p.m. to 1:00 am.; the food will be just as beautifully
displayed and as sumptuous as always and prepared as
always by the Forest Hill cafeteria staff.
Decorations will be carried out
in the Senior Class colors, Pink and white, with arrangements
of their class flower, the carnation, enhancing the
effect.
Rules for Prom attendance are still
the same. Juniors and seniors may each bring one guest.
Forest Hill sophomores may attend only as guests of
a Forest Hill junior or senior. The juniors and seniors
may invite guests from outside the school, but in that
case, a fee of $3 will be charged for the guest.
As usual, shortly before Prom ,night,
juniors and seniors ' attending the Prom will be requested
to fill in a guest form. Incidentally, tickets of admission
will be issued to the Prom go'ers this year.
"The Cinnamon" musical group
was booked through the Bee-Jay Booking Agency in
Winter Park.
A. E. Oliver is faculty sponsor
for the event. He is assisted by Mrs. Erma K. Millgian,
A.U. King, and John G. Abbott.
The girls who will decorate for
the Prom are Posie Fischer, Cathy Proctor, Lynn Spinks,
Martha Townsend, Carolyn King, Jan Neubauer, Jennifer
Nevard, and Nanette Heyer.
Boys assisting are: Kim Lewis,
Joe Atkinson, Don Hagle; Russell Thaxter, Mark Carlin,
Richard McLane, Steve Thompson, Mark Robson.

By early 1971, Cinnamon was
