MAYFAIRE
STREET PARTY 2001

Saturday
May 12 was the date for the 2001 edition of the Mayfaire-by-the-Lake
street party on Lake Mirror, just off downtown Lakeland, Florida.
A crowd of approximately 4000 enjoyed an evening with garage-band
legends, the Canadian Rogues (now going as just, "The Rogues")
and neogarage-band, the Florida Cruisers; as well as a magnificent
fireworks display.
The
opening band was the Florida Cruisers who also played a second
half hour set later in the evening. The Florida Cruisers are made
up of members: Gary Chancey (lead guitar), Carl Harrell (guitar),
Steve Norton (Bass), and Tim Woodbery (drums).
The
Rogues recently underwent some changes to both their personell
and their song list. The newest member of the group is drummer
Rodney Price. Rodney worked on the road and in the studio with
the country-rock legends, the Bellamy Brothers, during the late
seventies and with country superstar Ricky Skaggs during the early
eighties.
Rodney
joins original Canandian Rogues members, Ronnie Harrell and Dane
Streets; keyboard and bass player, Jerry Lanier; and guitarist
Carl Chambers, who was a member of the 60s garage-band, Ron &
The Starfires, as well as guitarist for the Bellamy Brothers during
the late 70s.
The
group also has revamped it's songlist to include many of the greatest
hits of the late 50s, the 60s, and the early 70s. Approximately
70% of their songlist is new. Even long time fans were pleased
with the new song sets that ran the gamut of material ranging
from Carl Perkins to Deep Purple.
A
biograhical history of the Canadian Rogues from their inception
in the early 60s has been posted on DizzyRambler.com. Be Sure
to check it out.
