Carl's Scrapbook: 2000s Events: Mayfaire 2000

This was the first of the annual Mayfaire street dances to be held on Lake Mirror in beautiful Lakeland, Florida on May 13, 2000. The Rogues have played this event for about 14 years running now. This year we backed up Jimy Sohns, the lead singer from sixties rock band, the "Shadows of Knight", who had number one hits in 1967 with Gloria and Shake. I felt like a teenager again (well, a 53 year old teenager anyway). This was one of my first nights back with the band after the chaos that was left in the wake of the death of Willie Metts some four years earlier. The Rogues were slowly on the road to recovery.

This was also my first gig with my new Custom Shop Telecaster guitar.

Thanks to Bobby Bostanche, The Rogues had the pleasure of backing up Jimy Sohns and Ray Nesbit of the Shadows of Knight for a set of some truly great ol' vintage rock and roll. It was a memorable evening.
