David Bellamy - Carl Chambers - Howard Bellamy

HOWARD AND DAVID BELLAMY

On Saturday April 14, 2001, I went out to Cypress Gardens to see Howard and David, the Bellamy Brothers. It was the first time we had seen the guys since December 1979. The Brothers were promoting their new 25th Anniversary CD set and the show included about three of the tunes I had the honor of recording with them in the seventies. It was really interesting to hear how the songs had evolved in over 20 years of perfomance. I'll have to admit, I was nervous standing backstage watching the boys go through their paces because I wasn't sure if I'd be a welcome visitor or not. My doubts were completely unfounded though, because when the guys came off the stage it was like old home week. Old road stories abounded and my only regret is that we didn't have a little more time. But in true Bellamy fashion, the boys had a long line of autograph seekers. Well, maybe next time.
