Joey Foley was 12 years old when his Uncle Harley Constant introduced him to clogging in the locally famous Black Mountain Cloggers. He knew he was hooked when a crowd of 10,000 people started chanting his name during a show the clogging troupe was doing at the Lakeland Civic Center. The twelve-year old never looked back.

Joey says that the desire to sing and play the guitar came from his grandmother who used to perform on the radio for the troops during World War II. She encouraged him to learn songs and sing along with the radio.

As a young teen, his first chance to sing in front of a crowd was at Carl Allen's Historical Cafe in Auburndale, Florida. The song was Guy Clark's homage to the culinary delights of "Homegrown Tomatoes", and the crowd went wild. Joey still incorporates that song in his shows.

While in the ninth grade Joey was hired part-time as a member of a clogging team that was dancing in the Dizzy Rambler Band's show at the Circus World theme park near Haines City, Florida. Needless to say he would steal that part of the show each day. Eventually Joey would choose to stay with the Black Mountain Cloggers instead of going full-time with the show.

When Circus World was rebuilt and reopened as Boardwalk and Baseball, Joey hired on as one the cast dancers in the featured extravaganza -- the Colorado Riders Show. Eventually, he once again became a part of the Dizzy Rambler Band's show as a clogger but it would seem his heart was not on the dance floor but behind a microphone. He soon left the show to pursue a singing career.

Joey cut several independent albums in the 1990's as well as making several appearances on the now defunct TNN country music network. He even got the chance to dance on the Grand Ol' Opry with Ricky Skaggs' wife, Sharon White.

Among his other accomplishments, Joey has promoted a string of successful concerts and Clogging Hoe-downs in the Central Florida area and has helped to produce and promote shows for several local municipalities.

Joey Foley is a talented songwriter, singer, dancer, instructor and promoter. That says a lot for this "small town boy with his big city dream".
