The Goatfarm
Road Band was the alter-ego of Carl & Nancy Chambers and Joe Spann (The
Dizzy Rambler Band) and featured local musicians who were not regular members
of the Allen's family of pickers. Every year or so they would put together
a group of players and work up a 40 minute show of songs that they just wanted
to do.
Some of the players/singers that worked in the GFRB included: Duke Burr, Mark Magiollo, David Smith, Donnie Helms and Donna Mitchell. It was never the same group and never the same show.

The GFRB played about two or three shows over about a five year period in the late 80s and early 90s. They usually played an esoteric blend of country, swing and rock tunes set to a bluegrass style and feel, depending a lot on hot leads and tight harmonies.
Rumor
has it that the band still exists, but then, you know how rumors go!
