Frank and
Ann Thomas are singers and songwriters who received the Florida Heritage award
for their efforts to preserve Florida's home-grown music. Their songs reflect
a keen sense of the folk heritage of rural Florida and are enriched by a Thomas
family history that spans more than two centuries of living in the state.
Mr. and Mrs.
Thomas have written over 100 songs about Florida on subjects ranging from
the condition of the environment to local history. For many years they have
hosted a syndicated radio program, "Songs of Florida," that has brought the
traditions of the state to thousands of
listeners
each week. Frequent performers at the Florida Folk Festival, the Thomases
devote much of their time traveling the state to perform Florida songs at
schools, festivals, and concerts.
