The Dizzy
Rambler Band was put together in 1984 by Carl & Nancy Chambers and Joe
Spann. The group originally played at Skeeter's Big Biscuit restaraunt in
Winter Haven doing a mix of country and bluegrass tunes accompanied by a
recorded track of drums and keyboards. They graduated to working at the Circus
World theme park in 1985 and then the Baseball & Boardwalk theme park
from 1987 to 1990.

After leaving the world of theme parks the acoustic version of the group added fiddler, Steve Durrwachter, and played special events and shows around Central Florida, as well as being a crowd favorite at Carl Allen's Cafe. They won first prize at the 1993 Pepsi-Cola "Battle of the Bands" at Cypress Gardens even though they were the only acoustic group entered.

The Dizzy Rambler Band was not a bluegrass band in the strictest sense of the word, but played a wide variety of acoustic music including bluegrass, old-time and contemporary country, blues, pop standards and even a little rock & roll. The group also quite often played as back-up band for some of the regular performers at Allen's including Boots Eubanks, Red Moses and Barney Smith.
