Larry
Jackson Jr. (known as "Bunky" to his friends) started playing guitar
when his father, Larry Sr., started to learn the guitar. In 1975 Larry,
Sr. switched to the
banjo and that same year Bunky started playing professionally with
the group "The Bluegrass Little Bits". The Little Bits were
a group of talented youngsters from Auburndale who were under the direction
of James
Dockery.
They were regulars at Allen's Cafe as well as all the area festivals.
By 1986, Bunky had become an accomplished flat-picker and started working with Southern Star Bluegrass, a band he still plays with today. Also during the late eighties and nineties Bunky could be found many a Thursday night at the cafe in the company of Gilbert Hancock and friends.
