One
Oyster, One Necklace

Auburndale restaurant owner Carl Allen opened an oyster last weekend and found a
whole "necklace" of pearls, 26 of them. Allen said the oyster came from
New Orleans and he had called the oyster house man, who told Allen he
had never heard of an oyster producing a whole cluster of pearls, though
occasionally two will be found in one oyster. The pearls range in size
from a tiny speck to pea size and are hard, round and white. Allen said
he had no idea of their value, and said he probably would put them on
display in his restaurant.
